Scriptures to Overcome Self-Righteousness

• Romans 14:1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions.

  • Example of an affirmation: “I welcome those who are weak in faith but not to quarrel over opinions.”

• Titus 3:5 He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

• I John 4:19-21 We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. 

• Proverbs 30:12 There are those who are clean in their own eyes but are not washed of their filth. 

• Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.

• James 5:9 Do not grumble against one another, brothers, so that you may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing at the door.

• Proverbs 22:4 The reward for humility and fear of the Lord is riches and honor and life.

• 1 John 3:19-21 There is a sure way for us to know that we belong to the truth. Even though our inner thoughts may condemn us with storms of guilt and constant reminders of our failures, we can know in our hearts that in His presence God Himself is greater than any accusation. He knows all things. [21] My loved ones, if our hearts cannot condemn us, then we can stand with confidence before God.

• Psalm 135:14  For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants.
