"Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."
James 1:12
Temptation is all around us. As believers, we use the word temptation often, but what does it really mean? Temptation can be defined as the desire to do something, especially something that is wrong or unwise; A thing or course of action that attracts or tempts someone. So the question that comes from that is, how do we qualify what is wrong or unwise.
In my life, I've found that the only way to measure wheter something is wrong or unwise is to seek the Word of God, both His written and spoken Word. In James we find a promise that God will bless us and reward those who love Him with a crown of life if we are able to endure temptation. There have been so many times in life where I had the intentions of enduring, but for one reason or another... I gave up. I gave into the temptation to quit. Sometimes we quit a thing because we find that the comfort we have is more "valuable" than the challenge of pressing forward through adversity. This is untrue. When we have been called to more, the temporary comfort we have, will eventually shift to a feeling of unfulfillment and regret. Sometimes we quit or give up because we feel that we aren't equipped, prepared, or ready for the outcome that God has promised. This is why we have to seek Him daily for guidance and instruction. He will surely lead us along the way, preparing and prepping us with every step, and every act of obedience.
I want to encourage you not to quit when you face challenges and temptations. God is with you, ask Him for help to endure. What God has on for you on the other side of endurane is far more valuable than our temporary comfort.
